Forest School encourages children to explore their own innate learning in the richest classroom we have – the world. We believe children need:
- to be more active
- more independence
- more creativity
- more play
- more challenge
- more real-life experiences
Wild Learning programmes work to maximise the emotional, social and developmental benefits of education, but in terms of ‘what they learn’ we teach children:
- how to use tools
- how to make objects and art out of natural materials
- how to make and use fire safely
- how to stay warm and comfortable whatever the weather
- how to identify plants and animals
- how to communicate and work as part of a team
- how to value the natural environment and use it sustainably
